Depending on the state you’re in, online gaming isn’t illegal. New Jersey, for example, has legalized online betting since February of this year. There are now over 70 licensed sportsbooks in the Garden State, and mobile sports betting is expected to be legal by April 2020. By the end of the year, two of them will be available as well. But the question remains: Which states are the most welcoming to online gambling?
Pennsylvania is the first state to allow online gambling, and it has legalized sportsbooks, poker, and casinos. With such a large market, online operators are eager to serve the state’s residents. Other recent legalizing states include West Virginia and Connecticut. GeoComply recently tracked online gambling activity in the first week following the legalization. Among those cities that saw the most activity were Stamford and Greenwich.
Although gambling is legal on a federal level, each state has the right to regulate it. In New Jersey, for example, online casino generate more than $80 million every month. The state’s tax revenue has been massive, so much so that residents have even put forward initiatives to change their laws on iGaming. If New York can learn from this success, then they’ll be well on their way to legalizing iGaming in the state.

While many states have passed laws legalizing online gambling, there are some exceptions. In New Jersey, online casinos generate over $80 million a month, making them an excellent model for other states to follow. Indeed, it’s a big market for online operators, and it is possible that they’ll be able to copy New Jersey’s successful model in the near future. But for now, the question is, “Is it legal in the state?”
The majority of states are allowing online gambling, but some have laws in place that restrict it. Hawaii, for example, is not allowing gambling, but has several casino licenses. And in other cases, online gambling is completely illegal. There are no laws that prohibit it. But there are many other places where it’s legal to play. While it’s important to know your rights as a gambler, it’s crucial to remember that gambling is legal in your state.
While most states have legalized online gambling, some haven’t. The last one on the list, Pennsylvania, has been the most restrictive. While there are still a few exceptions in the list, the state isn’t yet a full online gambling destination. But, it isn’t illegal in all states. And, it’s also becoming more popular. This means that online casinos aren’t illegal in Iowa.
