Important information about puppies

What do you know about puppies?

Puppies are probably the cutest creatures in the world! Medium-sized puppies usually weigh between 0.5 and 1.4 kilograms, while the largest puppies weigh between 6.8 and 10 kilograms. The experts consider that the puppy is the most important stage in the life of the dogs; they learn so many things in just a few months. In that period, dogs begin to understand what is safe and what is dangerous for them (and it will be very difficult to change those perceptions in the future).

In this article I am going to discuss several important tips for raising puppies (and I will also add pictures of very cute puppies):

Veterinary care

First, take your puppy to the vet (it is suitable for any other type of pet). There, your puppy will receive a comprehensive exam and necessary vaccinations. Also ask for nutritional information and health instructions.

Prepare your house

Make your home suitable for puppies. Remove obstacles / items that could harm your puppy and make sure stairs are out of reach for him until adulthood. Buy yourself a comfortable dog bed and teach him what its purpose is.

Expose your puppy to the world

Let your pup be exposed to everything that he will be exposed to in adulthood such as people, other dogs and pets, common sounds like a dog barking or a running washing machine, and of course being handled and petted. Also, don’t let your puppy do anything that you wouldn’t want him to do as an adult. Without letting him know that he is misbehaving, nothing will change and he will not get rid of his bad habits.

Be kind and respectful

Don’t scare your puppy! Your intimidating actions can later turn into traumas and phobias. Let him feel safe and not scared around you. Also, do not punish your puppy. Yelling, cursing, or hitting does not teach any dog of any age to behave well. Train your puppy; Teach him what good behavior is with full respect for him. After all, you bought / adopted him because you love dogs!

Teach him what to chew / eat

It is very important to teach your puppy what to chew on (such as toys, snacks, and dog food) and what not to chew on (there are countless examples). Make sure the puppy has plenty of chew toys. Also make sure he doesn’t pick up poop or anything he shouldn’t eat when taking him for a walk. Prevent these types of habits to be able to eliminate them in the future.

Raising and caring for a puppy is not easy. You have to be very responsible and very patient. However, this is one of the most enjoyable and satisfying things I have ever done in my life. There is no creature more loyal than a dog that you raised as a puppy.
