Profitable Online Visibility: 3 Big YouTube Mistakes Most People Make On Videos (Is That You?)

Profitable online visibility helps you get found in your entire niche. And you want to be found in your entire niche, right?

And one of the best ways to do that is with your YouTube videos. Unfortunately, there are some major mistakes that most people make with their YouTube videos.

First of all, don’t do what most people do, because most people are broke.

With that said, here they are 3 big YouTube mistakesand what to do instead.

3 big YouTube mistakes

Error n. # 1 on YouTube: fear of being on camera = no videos – It’s amazing, but many people must believe that they have a face made for radio. I say this because a lot of people are terrified of being “in front of the camera” in a video. Therefore, they do not take advantage of this great resource for online visibility.

What to do instead – There are a couple of things you can do instead. The first is to just get over it! Come on, get over the insecurity and get out there … (don’t stop reading yet).

Since some of you will dismiss that first suggestion as if I had suggested singing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl in the nude, here’s another suggestion. Screenshot videos. Take your Powerpoint or Keynote and create 3 slides showing how to solve a problem in your niche. Create a video using the free Screenr.com software with you (NOT on screen) talking to prospects about solving a problem.

Boom, you have a video!

YouTube error n. 2: messing up your video file name – Say again? In English please! OK, just stay here. Too many people upload a video to YouTube without renaming it “screencast 24” or something equally useless for those looking for its solutions.

What to do instead – Rename your video before uploading it. Instead of the dreaded and useless “screencast 24”, use a keyword action with “Profitable YouTube Marketing: Fear of being on camera = No videos”, for example.

YouTube error n. # 3: a boring, unlinked description – Right below your YouTube video there is a place for your video description. Most people (there is that phrase again) make their description boring and don’t include a link.

What to do instead – Oh oh, we have two problems to solve here, boring descriptions and no-link descriptions.

Boring descriptions – Which one would take you to see a video? => “This video is about YouTube videos” or “How to avoid one of the most profitable YouTube video mistakes and what to do instead.”

Descriptions without links – I once looked for a YouTube video with a link in the description to demonstrate to some of my upper level students what not to do. Unfortunately, it was not difficult to find. Also unfortunately, and with some humor, it was a pretty decent video on list building WITHOUT links to the person who created the video.

So if I were to create a link for a video only in this error it could be something like this:
