Metal Gear Rising Revenge – XBOX 360 Game Review

The Metal Gear series has always fascinated me, but I never had the urge to go out and buy the game. With the Metal Gear Rising Revenge trailer looking solid, I decided to take the plunge.

You play Raden, a former child soldier turned cyborg. The plot takes place four years after the story of The Metal Gear Solid 4.

Raden works for PMC Maverick Securities while defending the African Prime Minister. During a routine car convoy ride, Desperado Enterprises launches an attack with the goal of defeating diplomacy and keeping nations in conflict.

Raden’s job is to preserve the peace and defeat a powerful enemy, of course, with the help of cybernetics expert Doktor.

how to play
You will really love playing as Raven, she comes with a sword and can also pick up secondary weapons. Unfortunately, these weapons are a pain to pull out and you can’t run while picking them up. Slightly stupid when you have a boss rushing at you with rockets.

Blade Mode is an awesome addition and allows you to slice enemies into small pieces. I’m going to be totally honest and say that I’m not the best at sword fighting games, so aiming pretty sucks.

During the game, you can cut through an enemy’s column and take out a repair unit. This allows Raden to get full health back on him, which is a great feature for someone like me who gets hit every five seconds!

Camera angles sometimes fall off in this game, especially in small or tight spaces and ultimately meant I had trouble seeing all opponents. It’s not always a problem, but it’s certainly a pain in certain parts of Revengence.

other factors
I rarely mention the game’s music; however, the soundtrack for this game needs a mention. It’s fast paced and just great. It is perfectly suited to the action and throughout I was amazed at how good it sounds.

After all the battles you get a score of how accurate you were during your attacks etc, it was a really nice touch.

Advice

age classification 18 – Lots of blood with fights everywhere.
Available in 2 Platforms – Playstation 3, XBOX 360.
Gender Action, Fight.
Tasks Story: Interesting story but a bit crazy at times.
Price £30 – With only 7 hours of gameplay, too expensive?
Release date February 21, 2013 – United Kingdom.

Conclusion
As you’d expect from Metal Gear, the fighting is a huge plus. I’m not a big fight player, but I enjoyed playing this.

It’s a shame that the game’s length is really short and the camera angles sometimes throw enemies slightly off-screen.

Also don’t forget the leaf mode, probably the best addition to the game. I chose not to use it during gameplay, but I know that for other players, this will be a must-use and will certainly get you excited about cutting an enemy’s arm or body into small pieces.

Classification
Metal Gear Rising Revengence is an awesome fighter with all the action. Despite some issues, this game has many positive aspects and the music sounds amazing throughout the game. (7/10)
