Easy craft idea: decorative paper roses
Creating your own crafts is fun and rewarding. Many craft ideas are simple but will boost your creativity and give you a sense of accomplishment.
One of the easy but beautiful crafts that almost anyone can do is to make decorative roses.
Materials needed:
- fine wire
- stiffer wire
- plastic fern
- 36″ x 4 1/2″ strip of toilet paper or tissue paper, (different colors)
Process:
- Fold the toilet paper or tissue in half, lengthwise.
- With the fold at the top, hold the paper by the edges and roll it loosely into a rosette shape. Add more coils around if needed.
- Pinch the base and twist it with fine wire. Pinch off at least half of the rose.
- Add fern and stiffer wire stem.
Ideas for Decorations with these Decorative Roses:
- A single flower can be used for corsages or boutonnieres.
- Roses of different colors can be grouped together and attached to a large cone of wire mesh to form a flower tree.
- To make a unique Valentine’s decoration, cut a heart out of thick cardboard and cover the entire surface with these roses. Punch a hole at the top and hang it on the wall. You can also use it as an additional decoration on Valentine’s Day for your loved one.
- To make a Christmas wreath, you can insert wire into the holes in a thick cardboard and cover the entire surface with flowers.
- For stunning wall decorations, use paper roses in pale pastel colors, either pink or aqua, and cut them out with a few small Christmas baubles in a contrasting color, or use small plastic hearts of red or green leaves.
- A very effective decoration for a large wall space for Christmas (or any holiday) is a large flat Christmas tree covered in green Kleenex blossoms.
- Flower groupings can also be used for Valentine’s or Easter decorations, or to decorate a banquet table edge, or your own party tables. Usually 2 or a maximum of 3 colors work best.
