Buy long dress with vintage silk wrap skirt

Hopefully this guide will be helpful to anyone looking to shop for a vintage silk maxi shawl.

ways to carry

All of these wraps can be used up to 100+ ways! They are known to be the most versatile piece of clothing on the market. With a wrap you can choose if you would like to wear it as a skirt, dress, top, pareo, saree style, poncho or shawl. The wraps are also made of two layers of material and are reversible.

Most sellers will include an instruction sheet or DVD showing a few ways to wear your coat. Don’t limit yourself to what is on the instruction sheet, be creative and let your imagination run wild! You will be surprised at some of the styles that you can come up with.

Things to keep in mind:

When shopping for vintage wrap online, be sure to research the brand and also the seller, as fabric quality and workmanship can vary dramatically. Wraps with 3 loop holes will increase the number of styles you will be able to achieve. These coats are usually made of 80% silk with a 20% rayon or 20% polyester blend, both of which look very good to me. Some of the fabrics used may contain embroidery, mirrors, metallic threads, or other embellishments. The finish of the fabric can be satin, georgette, chiffon, cotton or another fabric. Some fabrics are lighter or heavier than others.

If you are looking for a specific look on your wrap, be sure to ask the seller before making your purchase. When purchasing, please remember that these wraps are made from vintage fabrics, so any imperfections in design, print, weave, or dye are characteristic and not considered a defect or fault.

When choosing your wrap:

A standard size vintage sari wrap is approximately 120cm wide and fits a size 8-16. Plus size wraps are also available that fit a size 16-24, both the standard and plus sizes come in a range of lengths from 20″ 24″ 28″ 30″ 34″ 36″.

When shopping for a vintage silk wrap, the most important thing to consider is what you want to achieve with a single piece of material. They can be used from 30″ to 36″ for any of the styles, regardless of your height. If you are taller, be sure to measure from the top of your bust to your desired length to ensure you have chosen the correct length.

Being taller myself, my favorite lengths are 30″ to 38″. If I want to wear any of the shorter coats in a dress style, I’ll either wear a pair of ¾ pants or jeans underneath or layer another coat and wear it as a skirt. Using 2 wraps to create an outfit can have a stunning effect.

For mother and baby:

They are a wonderful purchase for expectant mothers as a wrap will help you throughout your pregnancy as you can choose the style that fits your tummy. Once the baby arrives, wraps are great to use when going out in public, as there is always excess material that can be pulled up to cover the breast for feeding the baby.

I also used one of these wraps to create a beautiful soft baby sling to carry my baby.

For children:

These shawls are a great buy for all growing girls as the 20″ wrap can be worn from about 18 months as a dress, getting shorter as they get older, throughout the years they can start using the scarf as a blouse or skirt.

Do not miss it:

If you ever see a scarf and fall in love with it, avoid being disappointed and BUY it as all these scarves are one of a kind and made from vintage Indian sari fabric and will never be seen again.

The most wonderful thing about these coats is that they can be worn all year long! In the warmer months they can be worn alone with a nice pair of strappy sandals, in the cooler months they can be worn over pants, tights or a pair of boots.

care instruction:

The makers of the vintage sari skirt recommend hand washing it in cold water, but I always put mine in a pillowcase and run it in the washing machine on a gentle wash.

Lay evenly on the clothes line and shouldn’t require an iron. If ironing is necessary, do so on low heat.

When you receive your wrap, it may have a slight “vintage” odor to it. If so, simply soak your coat overnight in wool wash or mild laundry detergent.
