5 fitness tips for teenagers

Do you want to get in shape but don’t know where to start? Teenagers have unique issues when it comes to getting fit and staying active. But there’s no better time than starting an exercise routine while you’re still a teenager. From now on, you will create clothes that will keep you healthy throughout your life.

5 fitness tips for teenagers

  1. Do not be ashamed. So what if you can’t run a mile? Who cares if you can only do “girly push ups”? Don’t worry if your fat moves when you walk! Everyone has to start somewhere, and no one starts out as an elite athlete. Many people don’t start exercising because they are embarrassed. I can’t believe how many times I’ve heard, “Oh, I’m going to join a gym after I lose 20 pounds.” This is ridiculous! Get over yourself and just move.
  2. Start small. Nobody expects you to run 10 miles or bench press 200 pounds on your first day. You need to work for these things. In fact, if you do too much too fast, you are likely to get burned or seriously injured. Walking is good.
  3. Do cardio and weights. Many teens do one or the other, but for the fastest results, you should do cardio and weight training. Don’t worry girls… you won’t grow like a bodybuilder. You will simply be healthy and strong.
  4. Muscles need time to repair themselves. You shouldn’t work out the same muscle group two days in a row…this includes your abs! Your muscles need time to repair and get stronger. Give them a break.
  5. Find a friend. Things are easier when you have someone to help you along the way. Team up with a friend and exercise together. Even if you can’t exercise together, you can still motivate each other. Can’t find anyone to exercise with you? How about the family dog? I’m sure he would love to go for a walk with you.

It’s a lot easier to start a fitness program than you might think, and I hope these tips help get you on the right track.
