Will online gambling be legalized in the United States? Many industry experts predict it will. The state has not explicitly legalized online gambling, but New Jersey and Delaware have passed laws making it legal in their states. Other states should follow their lead. Here’s why:
Legalization of Internet gambling would boost the gaming industry and help to prevent criminals from stealing from online casinos. This is a multibillion dollar industry. Although it’s illegal in most states, the U.S. government is well aware of the industry’s value. Many offshore gaming sites operate in countries that don’t allow online gambling. As such, the federal government has said it’s up to the individual states to legalize it. However, there is resistance from religious organizations and land-based casino tycoon Sheldon Adelson. He views online gambling as a threat to his land-based casino empire.
Connecticut has been working on legalizing online gambling for some time, but hasn’t gotten anywhere. Despite the high popularity of the industry, it has been illegal in Connecticut for many years. In fact, a number of tribes have been fighting to have online gambling legalized. Governor Ned Lamont has pushed for the move after the COVID-19 pandemic, and included the potential revenue in his two-year budget. However, sports betting and iGaming have had their share of setbacks. The Mohegan Tribe and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe have been the biggest obstacles. The tribes want the sport to be included in the gaming economy, but they’re hesitant to accept it in their homes.

New Jersey passed the first bill to legalize sports betting in the state in June. Since then, it’s been illegal in that state, but has since become legal in several other states. In August, New York’s governor signed a bill allowing sports betting in the state, and Rhode Island followed suit six months later. While it’s legal in Louisiana, mobile sports betting is still illegal in that state. But it will soon be legal in the state.
The state of New Jersey has also legalized online sports betting, making it the 18th state to do so. With more than 20 million residents, the state is expected to set a record in sports wagering in the first two months. There is also hope that Texas and California will follow suit and legalize online gambling. In the meantime, sports betting in New Jersey will continue to grow. It’s possible that other states will follow suit as well.
In Pennsylvania, the state’s legislature passed a bill that allows sports betting in the state. The legislature also passed a bill to legalize online poker and daily fantasy sports. However, the law doesn’t legalize sports betting in Wyoming. While this bill has no immediate impact on the gambling industry, it may be a big step in legalizing online betting in the state. And because sports betting is already legal in Ohio, there’s no reason why it won’t be legal in the state.
