Why we exist: formalism

Jean Valjean, known as Prisoner 24601, has been given silver pieces by a priest and is released from prison and breaks parole to create a new life for himself while evading the clutches of persistent Inspector Javert. He became a factory owner and mayor. A girl named Fantine, who works in Jean Valjean’s factory, turns to prostitution to pay money to the evil innkeeper and his wife who take care of his daughter, Cosette. Fantine dies and Valjean promises to take care of her child, which eventually leads to a love triangle between Cosette, Marius, who is a student of the rebellion, and Eponine, a street girl. The town sings his anger and Enjolras leads the students to fight on the barricades. Eponine and Jean Valjean save Marius from death, and finally Jean Valjean faces death.

The beginning shows how dedicated Javert is to his work and even though many years have passed, he is still the same persistent Javert who wants to capture Jean Valjean. He firmly believed that his mission was to capture Valjean, so when he failed to capture him, he committed suicide out of disappointment. Javert is an epitome of justice. On the other hand, the priest who gave silver pieces to Jean Valjean symbolizes hope and a new beginning. Thanks to the priest’s kindness, Valjean realized his mistakes and changed his mind and, with the help of the money the priest gave him, he became the mayor and owner of a factory where Fantine works. Fantine dedicated her life to her daughter and has manifested what her mother’s love is until her last breath. It was like a call for Valjean. She promised to take care of her daughter and has kept her promise. She was able to save Cosette from her evil guardians and treated him like her own daughter. Cosette eventually fell in love with a boy named Marius who participated in the rebellion. She enjoltas as a leader, she warms the hearts and opens the eyes of other students to join them in the rebellion and be free from slavery.

A street kid named Gavroche has also fulfilled his mission before facing death. At a very young age, he was the one who gave hope and encouraged students when they were losing hope. He shows that a child can have a great impact on society and that young people are the hope and future of our country. Another character has expressed the value of unconditional love. Eponine loves Marius to the point of sacrificing her own life for him. And because of that, Marius and Cosette’s love for each other has been given the opportunity to grow. Jean Valjean has also saved Marius for Cosette because he did not want Cosette to get hurt. Jean Valjean faced his death with joy and happiness because he knew that his mission in life had already been fulfilled.

The film clearly shows what you want to convey or convey with your audience. The actors played their respective characters deftly; they gave justice to their respective roles that include the singing aspect because it is also musical. It also stands out in terms of the technical aspect, since the setting, backgrounds and special effects of the film seem realistic. all in all it was fantastic. If given the opportunity, I would watch it over and over again.
