The desert mentality will harm your finances
The wilderness mentality must be removed and replaced with a prosperity mentality because financial prosperity begins in the soul.
Number 14:1-4 and all the congregation raised their voices and cried, and the people wept that night. And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and all the congregation under them, is it God’s desire that we die in the land of Egypt or does God want us to die in this desert?
Has the Lord brought us out of this land to fall by the sword, or for our wives or our children to be prey? Wouldn’t it be better for us to return to Egypt? They said to each other, let us become captain and return to Egypt.
The children of Israel are standing by the Jordan River waiting to cross into the Promised Land and they were afraid. The Promised Land was a land flowing with milk and honey. In other words, everything they needed to live an abundant life was on the other side of the river, and they were afraid to cross.
The truth of the matter is that these people had a desert mentality, or what I like to call a poverty mentality. They felt comfortable when they were in Egypt as slaves because everything they needed was provided.
The only thing they didn’t have was freedom. When the opportunity to cross over into abundance presented itself, they hesitated and lost themselves. Everyone over the age of 20 died in the desert.
This same desert mentality prevails in the hearts of people today. Jesus said John 10:10 I have come that you may have life and have it to the full.
To embrace this teaching of Jesus we must get rid of the desert mentality because abundant life begins in the heart.
The desert mentality is a mentality of lack, or fear of running out, of not having enough. God is a God of abundance, not a God of scarcity.
Jesus said in Matthew 6:25 do not worry about anything. Desert-minded people worry about whether or not they will have enough for tomorrow.
If you worry that you won’t have enough for tomorrow, you have a poverty mentality.
It is never God’s will for you to be sick or poor and anyone who believes that believes wrong.
This is called wrong thinking and wrong thinking will destroy you because the Bible tells us that as a man thinks, so is he.
Father God is a wonderful Heavenly Father. He loves us and wants us to prosper. The Bible tells us in Psalm 35:27 that God takes pleasure in our prosperity.
It took God 40 years to get Egypt out of the hearts of the people before He could bring them to the Promised Land. Before you go to the Promised Land, you also need to get the desert mentality out of your heart and start believing that God loves you and wants only the best for you.
The desert mentality has been embedded in people for years and the only thing that will remove it is hearing the word about financial increase and the more you hear the less poverty mentality you will have and the more your finances will increase.
