Mobile phones – Making the world smaller

With human civilization speeding down the path of further progress, the world is getting smaller every day. Before the invention of the telephone, it was unimaginable that one could have a full conversation with someone even twenty miles away. In today’s world, we can’t even imagine what life would be like if we couldn’t talk across oceans and continents.

It was one thing when a phone was attached to a wall and could only be moved as far as the phone cord. Today, even in our homes, we can have discussions about the weather and everything else under the sun not only from living rooms, but also from the kitchen, bathroom, attic, or anywhere else you can imagine. All this, thanks to the invention of the wireless telephone.

There was a time when the car phone was considered a breakthrough. Who would have imagined that there would come a time when you could talk while going from one place to another. However, even with cordless phones and car phones, we were still tied to something, in this case, the house and the car, respectively.

Then the big boom happened! We saw the invention of something that would lead to revolutionary changes in the way the world did its communication. The era of the mobile phone had already begun. Truly, this was a long way from the time when letters had to be sent every time there was a message of great importance. Back in the days when posting was the only way to communicate quickly, one could never have imagined getting quick responses. But now, as mobile phones continue to take control of our lives, instant communication is the buzzword.

We are the children of the communication age, witnessing the emergence of ever newer modes of communication. And the best representative of this era of the global village is the mobile phone. We are no longer tied down by telephone wires. We can talk to our near and dear ones, our colleagues and mentors, and anyone else we’d like while on the go.

Gone are the days of memorizing important phone numbers. Gone are the days of finding a payphone if we want to make a call. If we need to make a call today, all we have to do is reach into our pockets, pull out our cell phones, and dial.
