Keyboard Engraving vs Keyboard Language Stickers

If you’re bilingual, like me, and work on your PC, Mac, or laptop with more than one language, you’re probably frustrated by having a single-language keyboard. I mean, you can easily download another language to your computer, but if you don’t know where the letters of the new language reside on your keyboard, you’re pretty much lost.

This feeling of loss is especially true if your language is Arabic, Russian, Hebrew, or Chinese, which has characters that are very different from English.

Until recently, the popular solution to this problem would have been to use keyboard language stickers, be it Arabic, Russian, or Hebrew, whatever language you’re using. The basics were to buy letter stickers, place each one on the correct key (so that when you press each key your computer shows the correct letter), and start working. The main problems of these stickers are these:

  • Keyboard stickers tend to fall apart after a while, leaving a mess on the keyboard
  • It is difficult to put these stickers directly on the keyboard.
  • You need to replace all these language stickers from time to time
  • It makes your keyboard look ugly and unprofessional.
  • In general, keyboard language stickers have multiple disadvantages.

Recently, a new solution appeared – the engraving of the keyboard language. Keyboard etching is a process where letters of an additional language are etched onto your keyboard in a similar way to how the original English letters were etched at the computer factory. Keyboard engraving has a few main advantages:

  • Keypad engraving is a permanent solution that requires no work on your part
  • The letters never wear out
  • It looks like the letters came with the original keyboard.
  • The best thing about keyboard engraving is that it is a quick and fast process. It is much faster to record your keyboard than to put stickers on yourself

The main thing I like about my engraved keyboard is that it looks totally professional. I didn’t spend all this money on a cool laptop just to ruin how it looks with keyboard stickers. They even ask me admiration questions about my keyboard, which is nice too. I highly recommend keyboard etching for anyone who works with 2 or more languages.
