Facebook Game – Bejeweled Blitz Review
It’s rare that we hear from a Facebook community that hasn’t heard of Bejeweled Blitz before. Bejeweled Blitz is a great puzzle game created by Pop Cap, the same developers who brought you the award-winning 2009 game Plants vs Zombies.
How to play
The first thing I noticed in Bejeweled is that the gameplay has changed a bit after a few months without playing it. With the new added feature like earning gold coins and buying power-ups.
Now we look at the basic gameplay. Bejeweled Blitz is like any typical Facebook puzzle game. However, what makes it more interesting here is that the game was originally created for the home PC by Pop Cap and was brought to Facebook as a promotion for his company and another line of games. This is a good strategy as Bejeweled is a very addictive and fun game to play. Rarely will people get bored with it, they will just get frustrated, and sometimes they will pull their hair out.
The game works like any other puzzle game you know. As your main objective in this game is to get the highest possible score in just 1 minute in 1 round and yes it is only 1 round. The game usually consists of gems of various colors around the screen and you have to get the gem in 3 or 5 lines together to score. As you destroy the current gems, a new one will be displayed for you to destroy.
With the given time of 1 minute, the game started very slow at first, but once it reaches half the time provided, players will eventually start to panic and try to complete as many combinations as they can. Along the way, players will have special power-ups and this will also depend on the effort of the players.
For power-up, players will need to match at least 5 gems with the same combination in less than 1 line, vertical or horizontal depending on the situation. There are 5 types of power-ups available for the game.
Flame Gem will make a big blast in an area around it and destroy any gem around the blast area. Very useful if you have at least 2 or 3 of this gem together. To get this gem, you need to get 4 gems in a line.
Star Gem, this is created by matching 5 gems in an “L” or “T” shape. The effect of Star Gem is to unleash its power by removing a column and row of gems from the board.
Hypercube is the power that players find most useful. This is a power that unleashes its power by destroying a colored gem in the game. The most useful feature is to combine with Flame Gem and Multiplier Gem, this allows the player to get a lot of points and also credits depending on the gem you destroy.
Multiply Gem is a gem that increases score when used. Or it comes with 2 times up to 4 times, depending on luck.
Gold Gem is the newest collection in the game. This gem allows the player to earn Gold Credits that allow players to purchase an additional boost to aid in this game.
After each round, the players will be presented with a result of how they performed in the last game. Beat your highest score and you will be rewarded with a medal that will allow you to show it to all your friends. Credits earned from previous games can be advanced to buy a new power (Boost) to use in the next game and this boost will last for at least 3 rounds before it is reset.
Players are encouraged to use the mouse for this game as it is more responsive and easier to navigate than using the touchpad.

Bejeweled is a very colorful game as the gems are displayed in various shapes and colors. The animation in this game is also very good, as you will see explosion and lightning effects depending on the power up you have used.
Sound
Bejeweled Blitz has a very good sound in this game, but the musical part is a bit lacking. The sound produced by the explosion and destruction of gems is a lot of fun and once your counter reaches the last 10 seconds, players will be pressured to score as much as possible before it reaches 0.

This is a very addictive game that will keep anyone playing for hours. Also, with the scoring trees provided by the developers, this game will push players to beat their previous high score and also reach the top of the game’s top 10 player rankings.
