When you leave your home, will you see your shadow?

Most people are discovering a “new normal” and have changed their habits and goals. While every day may seem like the movie Ground Hog Day, you can take some great lessons from this 1993 classic.

The film Ground Hog Day stars Bill Murray as Phil Connors, a television meteorologist, and Andi MacDowell as Rita Hanson, a news producer. Phil has been assigned to this small town for several years to report on the end of winter, Groundhog Day with Punxsutawney Phil.

Phil sees this small town as inferior to himself and sees himself above all of this. The next day he wakes up in his hotel as if the day before hadn’t happened. It’s in a time loop, an endless replay of the same day!

First Phil accepts no responsibility for anything and lives like a college freshman who just got his first taste of freedom. He indulges in binges on food and drink, reckless driving, one-night stands, and theft. Every day has no consequences, as if it were in a cycle of time.

The realization:

Phil has always been attracted to his news producer, Rita. He tries to woo her without success and is depressed and desperate to end the cycle. He also attempts suicide and even kidnaps Punxsutawney Phil.

The most valuable takeaway from this segment was that you decide to go after something you want, instead of talking about it … even if it fails.

The transformation:

Phil chooses to take responsibility for himself and his actions and decides to surpass himself and act on the items that have long been on his one day list.

On Phil’s list was learning to play the piano. Take piano lessons, practice, and realize you have musical talent!

He has also always wanted to learn French, so he tries hard and does it. Learn to sculpt ice, decide to help others. Start by asking them questions to find out what they dream of and what they want! Then start helping them get there!

In a restaurant, a man is drowning and Phil steps in to save him. He befriends a homeless man, takes care of him, and takes him to the hospital.

You ask questions about the people around you and want to know about them to help them realize their dreams. It helps them show that you care about others. He has become a better man thanks to this “Time Loop”.

Phil really likes Rita and asks questions about her to find out her dreams and wishes! Rita sees the changes in Phil too!
