We need public leaders who do the right thing, instead of populists!: 5 keys

Doesn’t it seem like the level of partisanship and polarization, these days, is at a level, unlike anything we remember, in recent memory? Many have noted that very little of value seems to be accomplished because of this same – old, same – old way of conducting our national and local businesses! While politicians have often reverted to overly simplistic, somewhat empty rhetoric and promises, it seems even worse today! We need, and we must demand, more and better, from our public leaders, and they must be held accountable, for doing the right thing, as the highest priority, rather than reverting to populist behaviors and putting their personal / political agenda, ahead of the common good. and looking for viable, well thought out, relevant and sustainable solutions. With that in mind, this article will briefly attempt to consider, examine, review and discuss 5 key elements and areas, which are the most essential.

1. Safe Weapons Safety Measures: It seems that whenever there is a horrible shooting, which happens all too often in the United States, politicians offer little more than their Prayers and Wishes! School shootings, church killings, attacks on moviegoers, etc. must be addressed seriously, because, any civilian nation, should not just accept it as a way of life! We must ban attack / assault weapons, because there is no acceptable reason, anyone needs it, for any purpose! If we understand that there is a need to license drivers and register cars, wouldn’t it make sense to require gun owners to pass background checks (including criminal records and mental health issues)? Since we searched our cars, shouldn’t guns have similar requirements, so there was some kind of registration, if someone misused one? How many more must die, before continuing, with some common sense?

two. Public health: Shouldn’t public health in general be a top priority? In recent days, with the current pandemic and related risks, etc., don’t the requirements necessary to protect the common good in general make sense? We have seen politicians, follow the apparent example of President Trump, articulate a populist message, when responsible, relevant and sustainable leadership is needed and needed!

3. Constitutional principles / guarantees: Stringent guarantees of our rights and freedoms, centered on, and including, liberty and justice, for all, must become a key focus! Too often, we witness some public leader putting their personal / political agenda and / or personal interest ahead of the common good.

Four. Economic plans: Deny, our system, has a significant degree of systemic racism, etc., do not do these things, go away! The way we educate, train and protect, equal rights, etc., is often seemingly a biased and flawed process. Isn’t it that time, the gap, between the wealthiest and the rest, is narrowing, rather than consistently widening?

5. Tax Reform: President Trump’s signing of so-called tax reform legislation was supposed to primarily benefit the middle class. After more than 2 years it is obvious, it mainly benefited the wealthiest people and the largest corporations, and did little to help / benefit others!

Wake up, America, and demand better, from those we choose, to serve and represent us! Until / unless most of us think of voting as a right and proceed responsibly, this probably won’t get any better!
