Ten things to love about America in the Trump days
In 2008, the United States was the first Western industrialized country to elect Barack Obama as a non-white Head of State. In 2016, the pendulum fell back on the election of ultra-white business mogul Donald Trump. As Trump rolls back the progress made under Obama toward global cooperation in critical areas like climate change and health care, he can help Americans review what makes their country so great.
1. America has a great base. The Declaration of Independence of 1776 establishes that the new country liberated from England is based on an inalienable human right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
2. The Constitution of 1786 established the rights that would be protected. These include the right to freedom of expression and freedom of the press, the right to assembly and the right to bear arms.
