Fighting with god

I am a fan of wrestling. Before I used to find such combat sports very violent and irritating, but then I found out that there are certain qualities these fighters exhibit that Christians and all who want to be successful need. And they are; Staying focused and alert, self-confident, hopeful, courageous, persevering, resilient, and tactical. As John Cena will always say, “Never give up!” And the current Universal Champion and my favorite, the Big Dog Roman Reigns tells you: “Believe it!” And he shows it in the ring afterwards. Yours is one of the bravest human beings I know. These men and women really hardly give up in a fight. Even with deep pains and blood at times, they still struggle. They always believe that it won’t be over until it’s over. But I still find boxing and kickboxing too tough. I hardly look at them at all. But we are not going to discuss wrestling or combat sports here. No. We want to talk about the struggle, the struggle with God and it simply means: hold on faithfully and tenaciously to God’s promises and His words until you see them fulfilled in your life or in your situation. It is clinging to God until you receive an answer to your request. It is also refusing to take no for an answer to what you know is God’s will. There are levels that you can never reach in God until you learn to “fight” with him. This involves drawing God’s attention to a particular situation or need, convincing him why he should do that, and waiting for him until he does what you asked him to do. This is certainly a very serious problem. That is why almost everyone who wrestled with God in the Bible was about a matter of life and death or about destinies. Struggling with God takes strength, courage, faith, time, and patience, but when successful, the payoff is always sweet, lasting, glorious, and monumental.

Let’s look at some examples of people who wrestled with God in the Bible:

Abraham

Look at what happened between God and Abraham, when he was going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. Abraham, hearing of the impending divine judgment, took immediate action to free his nephew and his family from destruction. He fought, interceded, and ‘wrestled’ with God to achieve it. Let’s read Genesis 18: 22-33, “The other two men headed towards Sodom, but the Lord stayed with Abraham for a while, Abraham approached him and said, ‘Will you destroy both the innocent and the guilty? Suppose you find fifty Innocent people inside the city, will you destroy it and not forgive it for its sake? Surely you would not do such a thing, destroying the innocent with the guilty. Why, you would be treating the innocent and the guilty exactly the same! Surely you wouldn’t do that! Shouldn’t the judge of all the earth do the right thing? “

“And the Lord replied, ‘If I find fifty innocent people in Sodom, I will spare the whole city for their cause.’ Then Abraham spoke again: “Since I began, let me continue and speak more to my Lord, even though I am dust and ashes. Suppose there are only forty-five, will you destroy the city for lack of five?” destroy the city for lack of five? And the Lord said, “I won’t destroy it if I find forty-five.” Then Abraham insisted further on his request: “Suppose there are only forty?” And the Lord replied, “Will I not destroy it if there are forty?” “Please don’t be angry, my Lord,” Abraham pleaded. “Let me speak, suppose there are only thirty to be found?” And the Lord replied, “I will not destroy it if there are thirty.” Then Abraham said, “Since I have dared to speak to the Lord, let me continue, suppose there are only twenty.” And the Lord said, ‘Then I will not destroy it for the sake of twenty.’ Finally, Abraham said, ‘Lord, please don’t be angry; I’ll speak one more time, suppose there are only ten to be found there. ‘ And the Lord said, ‘Then, for the love of the ten, I will not destroy it.’ Then the Lord went on his way when he had finished his conversation with Abraham, and Abraham returned to his tent. “

Woof! A teacher intercessor indeed! This was a very complex directed intercession. In fact, it was a ‘wrestling match’. It is regrettable that ten righteous people could not be found in all of Sodom, otherwise this great intercessor would have successfully saved the entire city. Can we find righteous people around us today? God help us! This should be a model for any potential advocate. You must be patient, persistent, humble, alert, focused, and articulate. Abraham persisted and fought until he was able to save his nephew Lot and his family from that destruction. That was a typical wrestling match with God. Abraham did not give up until he achieved his goal. What do you want from God? Why have you been believing him? Time to turn it into a spiritual wrestling match. Yes. You have to fight like your whole life depends on it. And in most cases, it does. Certain. We are in a war. If you do not win that battle, you will become a victim or a casualty: your life, your career, your future, your family, your destiny, your joy, your prosperity may disappear forever. You must get up now and fight. You must wake up and pray! Call those things that you need that do not exist. Everything is possible! When you refuse to give up, God will not only bless you, but He will also make you a blessing to humanity. Please, we will continue. Share this message with others.
