Dodge Magnum recall

The Dodge Magnum has the same platform as the Chrysler 300 sedan. It was introduced in 2005 and replaced the Intrepid. It is a car that is available with all-wheel drive or with rear-wheel drive. When the Magnum came out, consumers seized the opportunity to own a car that had style and power. However, from 2005 onwards, there have been many Dodge Magnum recalls due to manufacturing failures.

Here is a list from Dodge Magnum highlighting the issues because of which DaimlerChrysler called the cars.

The 2005 model was recalled because of the potential for the bulkhead mounted battery cable clips to loosen. If this happens, it could cause a fire in the instrument panel. It was the responsibility of the distributors to ensure that the fastener conformed to the required specification.

Certain 2005 model vehicles had a problem with the seat belt anchorages as the proper floor reinforcement was not performed. Dealers had to check the rear floor reinforcement and install the necessary rivets.

On other 2005 Magnum vehicles, the front seat belt bolts were not properly tightened. Dealers had to check the front seat belts and tighten the bolts to their specification.

The automatic transmission in the 2005 and 2006 Magnum had a problem with the cup plug that was not installed properly. This prevented the transmission from shifting into park.

The 2007 Magnum with the 2.7L V6 engine had a problem with the rear brake tubes that could cause brake fluid to leak and therefore cause a problem with the brake system. The dealers had to replace the damaged tubes.

On the 2007 Magnum with an automatic transmission, there was an issue with the powertrain control software that caused the shift to go from driving to neutral and then driving again. Dealers had to reprogram the powertrain control software.

In the 2007 Magnum, there was a problem with the antilock brake software and it caused the rear brakes to lock up. This could happen without prior notice. Dealers had to reprogram the antilock braking system.

On the 2008 Magnum, there was a manufacturing defect in the rear axle hub nuts. These nuts had to be replaced by the distributors.
