This is a sport that has been practiced for several decades in several countries. Filled with emotion, passion and intensity, it provides a colossal delight in watching 15 players from each side fight each other for the ball to score a goal. He alone is enough to give you goosebumps.

Born on 18 September 1991, he began his AFL career by making his Fremantle debut against the Richmond Tigers and emerged as a rising star when he was nominated for the AFL Rising Star award in 2010. Since then, he has taken steps of giant in helping Fremantle to their first AFL Grand Final appearance in 2013. To many aspiring professional players, Nathan Fyfe is an inspiration.

But inspiration alone is not enough because, for any athlete, practice and expertise are paramount. If you only aspire to be a footballer and don’t train, you are only fooling yourself. Rugby is a physical sport and for that you need to have the right physique as well as having the necessary skills such as ball control, attack and defence.

Why is training essential before going out into the field?

If you follow the interviews of eminent players like Nat Fyle, Patrick Dangerfield and Todd Goldstein, you’ll know that none of them started playing the game directly on the field. They practiced and practiced at home with a dummy ball until they felt confident stepping onto the field. Without that confidence, it can be disastrous for anyone to play the sport professionally.

Needless to say, we all know that this game is purely physical and what happens if you start playing it without much training? Well, it’s going to be a couple of broken bones, fractured ribs, days in the hospital, and a huge medical bill.
