Commercial wood floor cleaning

Hardwood floors can be beautiful, they provide a floor covering that can withstand a great deal of punishment, and they provide a durable surface, but they must be cared for properly. Commercial wood floor cleaning is more expensive than tile floor cleaning because wood is more difficult to care for.

Commercial cleaning services advise companies with wood floors that the most damage done to these surfaces is due to sand. You can prevent your hardwood floor from getting a lot of damage by placing mats in front of doors to catch sand when people enter. Mats need to be cleaned frequently or sand will pass through the mat fibers and get trapped between the mat and the hardwood floor.

Mopping dust from a hardwood floor is the best way to remove fine sand. If the surface is heavily trafficked, you may need to dust several times a day to keep the fine sand collected. You can vacuum wood surfaces, but you can’t make the vacuum’s beater bar spin because it could scratch the floor surface.

You can place a piece of waxed paper under your mop and use it to add some shine to the wood as it collects the fine sand. The wax from the wax paper will polish the wood and make it shine while you mop up the sand.

Whenever you move furniture across these surfaces, be sure to lift it up and not slide it across the floor. If you must move furniture, put the pieces on wheels or place a carpet under the piece so that it cannot scratch the floor.

Commercial wood floor cleaning will include the periodic application of wax to the floor surface. After long periods of time, the old wax will start to build up on the floor. When this happens, your cleaning service will remove the wax from the floor and then apply a new coat. During a time when the wax is to be removed, scratches or gouges that have appeared in the wood can be fixed.

Nails in hardwood floors can sometimes loosen. When this happens, your cleaning service will need to hit the nail heads with a hammer to drive them back into the wood.

Hard shoe soles can leave marks on wood. You can use a regular pencil eraser to remove these scuff marks.
